CC Quotes

This is a page showcasing all those crazy moments in Creatures games. I often post screenshots of my creatures on the Gameware Forums, to see the interesting, often hilarious reactions by forum members. Whenever possible, I've added quotes by forum members below each image, in the order the quotes were written in each forum thread(complete with typos, as the posts were originally written). The name of the thread that the quotes come from is at the top of each paragraph section. It is in these quotes one can see the true, endearing insanity of the Creatures Community.

CC, I dedicate this page to you. Enjoy!

Note: If you see your own quote, and would rather not have it here, let me know and I'll remove it ASAP.

The Bizarre Norn Death Thread

(First, my original post, under the username Starbucks4ever).

In my crazy world of Siam, there are norns of all colors running around everywhere at any given moment. Thus, I can't watch every one of them all the time. When the
death icon showed up, I thought, "Huh, another norn died." Business as usual. But when I clicked it, I came upon a most bizarre scene of death:

My first words were, "How did THAT happen?" Then I laughed so hard my stomach hurt. I mean, wtf? How on earth did a norn end up there?

Quotes from others:

Lol, stupid little...  Must've crawled out that airlock, norns do the stupidest things--September_Rain

My most bizarre norn death remains the norn that died for apparantly no reason. I'm pretty sure I told this story already, but the forum might have eaten my post, so....
A few years back, my first set of twins hatched in C3. They were (apparantly) identical males, generation 2, pretty standard overall. I saved them as babies and imported them into a docked DS world.
Well, it turned out that twin 1 was a huge, kleptomatic, rat fink ba... em, he was not nice, so I separated the two and used him as a sort of torture test subject. '>_> I tested the limits of his lung capacty (well, how else was I supposed see if the bottom layer of Bug's Temple actually had water in it?) and dropped him outside the ark to see if that hidden room actually existed, and I even bounced him around the workshop a few times.
Nothing killed this stupid thing.
So, I finally gave up and decided he'd had enough. I took him to the medical bay to check his stats, and as soon as he approaches the pod, he collapses and dies.
No bacteria. No hunger. No old age (he'd just hit adulthood). No complaints of discomfort. He just... collapsed. I cold-crashed the game and restarted it to see if I could save him, or figure out why he'd died. Maybe if I got some food into him or something....
Nope. I showered him with food, and he ate it, and then he collapsed again.
Now, maybe his injuries were catching up to him, or maybe he had some genetic defect that his brother (who lived for a good 5 or 6 hours) had somehow avoided, but between you and me... I think my game was sick of him and autokilled his brain or something. :P The medical bay and HoloDoc weren't telling me anything interesting, at any rate, and though it's entirely possible that I just MISSED something, I simply couldn't find any reason for him to just up and croak it the way he did.
He's still got a clone on my hard drive somewhere. I'm tempted to drag his genome out and see if I just missed something obvious--Officer 1BDI

Me being lucky, death from giving birth to twins made the creature collapse out of sheer pain--mashermat

My norn was allergic to food. and died whenever he ate. xD--leannewoods

Not strictly a norn death, but I've had a grendle that was sludge-guned to death by an etten--Reesane

I had a Tortured Norn who could not die of pain, fear, or his injuries. There were no other Norns in the world, and no bacteria in the place he was in. I'm looking at him laying down, not saying anything and not doing anything, when he suddenly gets up and immediately dies. XD WTF?
I exited the game without saving and when I came back, he didn't die. In fact, he's still getting beaten until his morals improve--Lone--Wanderer

I remember a thread here about an ettin who sat around in the jungle for four hours with a solitary bacteria, when the bacteria was killed the ettin immediately died--flowerbunny

I had a norn that could survive being blown out of an airlock. but shortly after she was autokilled--mashermat

I once had a norn A regulkar Chichi norn that went to the Aquagarden and went into the water part. I figured, he'd die soon. But I checked a half hour later and he was eating the fish and was still alive, And I had an EM jammer on the lift... So I picked him up and sat him down on land and The second I sat him down he died... O_o... Whats weird is that once he first hatched he grew to a child before he went to the Aquagarden...
After He died I put another regular Chichi in that water and it died after a minute... Weird...--Nintendo_6444

I once had a grendle that died of old age, and then was beaten to life by another grendle. Yes, you read that right--Reesane

In my first few experiments with the brain genes, I decided to see the effects of deleting different lobes. But the results were not too horribly interesting. So I went and randomly altered bits of the brain, deleted some parts (I use Genetics Lab, which gives a nice big editable representation of the brain), and added other lobes.
The result was a norn that just kinda sat there and made the other norns stupid by telling them the wrong things (I played with his instincts, too). If a norn would say it was hungry, he would tell it to go to the left, or if it said it was lonely it would tell it to eat seeds. And he never seemed to age after adult.
And for some strange reason his sprites were all messed up; he retained the baby plant norn stub arms all through his life. But they were were his legs should have been. Needless to say, he was unable to walk, so I had to constantly set food by him.
Afterwards I just edited him to not need anything, and just get everything he needed from breathing. So after putting the improved version of Sqootl as I called him in a world all his own, he fell silent.
Naturally I fired up the mini-copier and made a dozen of the things, and they all started babbling incoherently to each other, with conversations usually boiled down to the original saying it liked a random member of his audience, and the entire audience shouting en masse that they loved him.
I had so much fun with these guys that I got out the physics adapter and adjusted them to the point where they could bounce around infinitely when thrown. I made a ton of the little guys, threw around, and watched 'em bounce. But I needed more.
So one day I flooded the entire meso (all three levels) with Sqootls. They were all bouncing around at high speed, and when I checked the population count, it read 572! I couldn't even see the background or any agents, it was all just a giant Sqootl storm.
Then they all died. At once. They all just fell from the sky like flies. I almost died laughing--Geohevy

I have a norn somewhere that crashes my game when she becomes an adult... Someone else tried her, but it didn't crash for them. So they exported her as an adult, sent her back to me, and upon import... she crashed my game. O.o--Tarlia

After a torture session one of my norns killed herself VOLUNTARLY crouching into the little lake in norn terrarium (creatures 3). No baloonies--Astimodeus

(Below is another post I made in the same thread)

I've had some norns die in strange positions lately:

This was the last image of one unfortunate female red Siamese who wandered into Norngarden 2(she was eaten by a Trasherplant):

Here's a norn that died standing up:

You didn't know that? WTF is wrong with you peoplez?--Norn-mania

I can say that elvis is not dead, he's only been exported--Astimodeus

Elvis died(supposedly) on the toilet, therefore my joke won. Just lettin' ya know--mashermat

(Other posts from said thread)

Just yesterday A norn of mine picked up a Tomeko held it for 5 mins, finally sat it down... and then died the second he put it down...
Also 3 Fimbul norns of mine (2 parents and child) Eventually starved themselves to death after trying to eat Albian Carrot beetles for 2 hours in C12DS...
This is not a death but its odd none the less... A long time ago (Around 2000) I was playing c1 was waiting for an egg to hatch. When it hatched and old (Grey haired) female Horse norn hatched out... Me being young at the time thought it perfectly normal (XD) The norn sat there for along time only blinking... Then she finally moved around. And she never died, well... I guess... She is/was on my old comp's (A windows 98) hard drive... Never to be seen again...
Ow my finger... I typed too much...--Nintendo_6444

One day I had a fallow norn, I think she was from the egg layer, and she walked into the fish pond (in the C3 norn terrarium), took a nap, then returned to dry land. Then she died.
Not really odd, but I was ten at the time, so I thought it was really unusual--flowerbunny

I once had an egg that i shot out of the airlock, and it just bounced around in space for over an hour. finally i picked it up and put it into a room, but gravity(or lack thereof) had already taken it's toll. the egg bouced around for another hour before i finally got sick of it and used the eggornator to put it in a male norn, then took it out. it no longer bouned. and when it hatched, it was dead O_O--AkaiNeko

(Response to above post) Heh! I would be scared of the norn who can resist such treatment being a fetus!--Astimodeus

I once had thid norn that kept eating from the c12ds fridge. He kept eating and eating from it and would not stop. Then I took the fridge away and he died a second later...--Nintendo_6444

Yesterday, one of my Siamese norns croaked while she was using the learning machine in the meso, and after she died I could pick up her corpse. I thought you can't pick up dead norns? *Weirded out* I put her body by the food machine thingy. Her body changed poses a second after I put it down. *Weirded out again*--Starbucks4ever(that's me)

(Response to above post): AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA MOVING DEAD--flowerbunny

One time I cloned a grendel egg like 100 times and then put all the eggs in the meso and they all hatched at the same time, all of them said... stuff and then all died... At the same time... MNy game slowed down alot. I dunno why I cloned the poor egg in the first place--Nintendo_6444

Norns die however they want, it seems. I had a norn who died standing on one foot, with his arms above his head. xD--Creatures2_Obsession

if you hold a norn when it dies, it stays like that until you drop it.--leannewoods

I had an odd little b****** of a norn who would go around murdering babies. no other kinds of norns- only babies! the little wretch! anyways- when he died...his eyes stayed open O_O" really creeped me out!
i thought to myself "this guy is gonna murder me in my sleep" then i realised that even if he could some-how get out of the computer, an adult norn probably wouldn't even reach my knee...so i just laughed. (seriously, if you look at how big an adult norn is in comparison to the hand, norn are about the same size as cats or medium sized dogs. just standing on two legs <3)--AkaiNeko

A siamese/chichi/zebra norn mix in Elysia was in the norn terrarium, complaining of being ill. I found bacteria around him, and Histamine A and Antigen 4 in his system. I killed the bacteria, and gave him lemon cookies, which cured him quickly. After that, he was happy and well again.
Not more than a minute after I cured him, he went up in the elevator on the left side of the terrarium, and when he reached the top he promptly died. o_O How random. I felt kind of bad, after having cured him just to have him croak on me. What's a devoted norn-loving Shee to do?--Starbucks4ever

I had a never-ager adolescence zebra male. I was kinda bored, and didn't know what to do with him. I took him to the grendle jungle, and figured I'd try to poison him.. See if he was truely immortal. Now, I don't know if there's just nothing poisonous in there, but he ate mushrooms, various seeds, a dragonfly.. and possibly tried to eat some things that were too big for him. Decided to do that all on his own, but didn't even get sick! So I got him eating the "pests". It only took a little encouragement, and then he pretty much did it on his own.. eating wasps and mosquitos. Still not sick. So I tell him to push the pests. Gets a small swarm of wasps stinging him.. and his pain goes up to two blocks below full, but doesn't get sick, runs away, and heals up quickly. So I grab some stingers from the meso. Still no effect. I try to get him to push a swarm of wasps again, still nothing. So I wait until his pain is fully healed, and try smacking him around a little, to see if it's even possible to get his pain up to full. Well, before his pain levels are even halfway where they were with the wasps, he drops dead. Still not sick.. All other levels are fine, though he was a little scared...
I just found it weird that eating everything from questionable fruits and seeds, to bugs, and pests, and then getting him to get himself attacked my wasps, stingers and mosquitos had NO results, and then I slap him a little, and he drops dead, when he isn't even in as much pain as when he had a whole swarm of wasps on him, heh.--CrystalKitten

How do you keep Ettins amused?

I once posted a question about my ettins being constantly bored. I noticed something else, too, that prompted me to post a picture:

Hmm, one of my ettins in Elysia seemed to be playing with the dummy in DS, but her boredom level didn't go down. Bleh. And why are there black pixels on her rump?--Starbucks4ever

OMFG CENSORED xDDDD--leannewoods

What can I say? That's the best reaction to a posted picture. Ever.

I broke the warp!?

OK, I seem to have, um, broken the warp. I can log in, but nothing can be sent to me, and I can't seem to send anything.

Is the server ignoring me because I was sort-of abusing it earlier by sending WAY too many creatures?--Crystal-Norn

Now you've done it! You've broken the warp! Look at all the little pieces!

((This post should in no way be considered worth looking at.))--Norn-mania

Maybe I broke it when I tried warping a creature to myself with CAOS?--Crystal-Norn

 Did it work?--mashermat

I've never broken the Warp. Though I have broken many of my worlds by doing stupid things.--Starbucks4ever

I think that maybe the creature I tried to warp to myself, is now stuck in the warp, and the server's confused because it can't deliver it, so it's just ignoring me mostly :P--Crystal-Norn

These quotes aren't necessarily from any one thread, but I still found them funny.

I hate ettins, they make good punching bags for my grendels, though.--EvilSpirit

You know what would be funny? If a spliced Grenorn's grendel half would keep trying to kill it's norn half and vice versa. :P I've actually got an RP character like that. I'd love to see one of my grenorns suddenly attack itself.--Bonsh

Norns don't give a flying hamster wheel whether they kisspop their relatives or not. xD--leannewoods
